Dorothy J. Oberg was born November 5, 1922, to Frank and Helen Koehn Goodrich in Albert Lea. She attended Albert Lea schools and worked at J. C. Penney. On September 24, 1942, Dorothy was united in marriage to James Oberg in Glenville. During the time James was in the military service, she was employed at Ben Franklin and Gambles. Dorothy enjoyed being a homemaker, growing flowers, playing bingo, and cooking. She was known for her mocha cakes, banana nut bread and potato salad. Dorothy especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and their families. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, the VFW Auxiliary, and the American Legion Auxiliary, where she had been in charge of poppy wreaths for Memorial Day. Survivors include her husband, James of Albert Lea; son, Barry and his wife, Fern of Rochester; grandchildren, Anjie Jones and her fiance, Keith Bowman and Scott and his wife, Tracy Oberg; great-grandson, Austin Jones; brother, Edison Goodrich of California; brothers-in-law, William Neff and Emil and his wife, Anna Oberg, all of Albert Lea; sisters-in-law, Pearl Amundson of Albert Lea and Shirley Oberg of Walters; and many special nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Helen Mae Oakland and Goldean Neff; and brothers-in-law: Walter Oakland, James Amundson, and Frank Oberg.
