Dorothy Hunnicutt

March 11, 1915 — November 3, 2006

Dorothy Pauline Sophia Hunnicutt was born March 11, 1915, to George and Laura Niebuhr Bogenschutz in Clark Township. She grew up in rural Faribault and Freeborn Counties, attended country school, and had worked for several families in the area. On July 12, 1940, Dorothy was united in marriage to Otis Hunnicutt in Wells. She was a member of the North Freeborn Lutheran Church and most recently a members of Central Freeborn Lutheran Church. Dorothy was active in Altar Guild, quilting, and WELCA, and had been a member of the District 5 and District 7 Mother's Clubs and the Silver Circle in Clarks Grove. She was very well known as a cake baker and also for her rolls, donuts, and lefsa. Survivors include her son, Gary and wife, Sue Hunnicutt of Geneva; grandchildren: Amy Alex Kromminga of Dover, MN, Eric Hunnicutt and special friend, Alissa Abrams of Albert Lea, and Lisa Nick Vreeman of Rochester; great-grandchildren, Zack and Paige Kromminga; step great-grandchildren, Duncan Kromminga and Brooklyn Abrams; sisters, Edna Vincent Hunnicutt of Freeborn and Esther Weiser of Zimmerman; sisters-in-law, Neva Neubauer of Wells and Mildred Woodside of Albert Lea; and nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Otis; step father, August Brandenburg; sisters, Alice George Schmidt and Laura Henry Kelling; and brother, Walter Brandenburg.
