Dorothy Adeline Holmquist was born on August 31, 1916 in Freeman Township, Freeborn County. She was a lifelong resident of Freeborn County, attending district 66 school, the Waldorf Academy, and graduating from Albert Lea High School in 1933. In 1934, Dorothy was united in marriage to Raymond Lee at the Lunder Lutheran Church. In 1971, she was married to Raymond Holmquist at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. Dorothy was employed as a Legal secretary for the firm of Hanson and Grinley. She was a member of the Oakland Lutheran Church where she served on the church council and was a member of the WELCA. She was a past president of the Freeborn-Mower Legal Secretaries, a past secretary of the Freeborn County DFL, and the Minnesota First District DFL, and was a member of the B.P.W. Club. Dorothy was also a 25-year member of the VFW Auxiliary, and a past member of the Library Anns and the Oakland Library Committee. She enjoyed quilting for world relief, also needlepoint, latch hook, embroidery and daily crossword puzzles. Blessed be her memory.
Survivors include her daughters Nancy (Roger) Espe and Carole Berg; daughter-in-law Isabel Lee; step-daughter Dianne (Richard) Krogh; step-son Bryan (Betty) Holmquist; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Raymond Lee and Raymond Holmquist, Son Darryl Lee, son-in-law Calvin Berg, six brothers, a sister and many other family members.
