Doris Audrey Hammer was born December 22, 1916, to William E. and Mary H. Murtaugh Conrad in Melbourne, IA. She attended schools in the Melbourne, IA, area and graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1934. On February 2, 1942, Doris was united in marriage to Glen L. Hammer in Sioux Falls, SD. He preceded her in death in 1976. Doris had been employed at Cut Low Grocery and the Heart of the Artichoke. She was a member of the United Methodist Church since 1942 and had been active in the Methodist Women's Circle and many other activities. Doris was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary and had been Chaplain for many years. She enjoyed nature and gardening, sports, especially the Minnesota Twins, and loved being surrounded by her grandchildren. Survivors include her son, Brad Hammer of Albert Lea; daughter, Glenyse Styve and her husband, Bob of Marcell, MN; son, Bill Hammer and his wife, Janice of Albert Lea; grandchildren: Chad Hammer and wife, Julie, Jace Hammer and wife, Robin, Reed Styve and wife, Terry, Renae Krmpotich and husband, Mark, Wade Hammer and wife, Kerri, April Hendrickson and husband, Jeremy, and Luke Hammer and fiancee, Kirsten; and nine great-grandchildren. Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Dale Conrad; and a granddaughter.
