Doris Maria Fogal was born on July 4, 1926 to James and Harriet (Tellett) Freemire in Mizpah, MN. Doris moved with her family to Heron Lake and then to the Freeborn area. Doris graduated from Freeborn High School. She then continued her education at the Mankato State Teachers College. She taught in the Hartland, Owatonna and Freeborn area for a total of 35 years, retiring in 1988. She was united in marriage to Francis Fogal on March 21, 1947 at the Freeborn Congregational United Church of Christ. The couple made their home in Freeborn for 41 years before moving to Albert Lea in June 1988. Doris was a member of the Freeborn Congregational United Church of Christ, American Legion Post 552 Auxiliary, MEA and Teachers Retirement Association. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include her sons Thomas (Jerri) Fogal and Glen (Lien) Fogal; grandchildren Jennifer (Carl), Amy, Adam, Justin, and Lindsey (Elliot); great-grandchildren Alex, Isaiah, Isaac, Kristopher, Addison, Hannah, Jett, and Carli; sister Frances Christiansen; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband Francis, great-grandson Jack, brother Ralph Freemire, sister Phyllis Bailey, and one brother in infancy.
Memorials are preferred to Freeborn Congregational United Church of Christ or the Mayo Clinic Health Systems Albert Lea Hospice program.
