Doris Phyllis Avery was born On October 5, 1924 in Hampton, Iowa, the daughter of William and Gladys (Bailey) Crawford. She moved to the Hollandale area with her family when she was a young girl. On February 14, 1946 Doris was united in marriage to Henry M. Avery. The couple lived in Albert Lea and in rural Clarks Grove. Doris was the last living Charter Member of the Assemblies of God. She was very active there in the Womenâs ministry, as a Sunday School Teacher, Bible School Leader and other activities. Doris enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading.
Survivors include her children Sherrill (Lynn) Hayes and William (Pat) Avery; grandchildren Becky Templin, Rachel Peterson, Charles Avery, Sarah Avery, Melissa Hayes, Amy Hayes, Jennifer Lego, Megan Flatness, and Will Gold; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters Meriam Younkers, Pauline Vaale, Thelma Remick, and Melvina Chandler; and many nieces and nephews.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Henry, her son Richard, sister Zelma Crawford, brother William Crawford, and a brother, John, in infancy.
