Dolores Beverly Carlsen was born September 3, 1917, to Henry and Emma C. Solum Edwin in Emmons. She was a lifelong resident of the area and graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1935. Dolores married Don Carlsen in 1936. She attended a school of cosmetology in Austin and had owned and operated a beauty shop on Clark Street and later in her home. Dolores was a former member of First Baptist Church and became a member of the Church of St. Theodore about ten years ago. She enjoyed her family, gardening, painting, singing, playing cards and games, and reading the Bible. Survivors include her son, David Carlsen of Albert Lea and special friend, Susan Ollman of Austin; daughter, Kathy and husband, Mike Parry of Waseca; grandchildren: Wendy Nelson of Albert Lea, Kim and wife, Tammie Carlsen of Minneapolis, Michelle and husband, Chad Pederson of Waseca, Dustin and wife, Suzanne Parry of West Des Moines, IA, Laurie and husband, Terry David of Forest City, Lisa Carlsen and significant other, Nicho Madrigal of Albert Lea, and Amy and husband Dave Stanek of Austin; 17 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Janice and husband, Bus Dempewolf of Albert Lea, Marlys and husband, Sid Johnson of Wells, and LaVonne and husband, Elmer Morgan of Hayward; brothers, Don and wife, Fern Edwin of Albert Lea and Howard and wife, Jane Edwin of Colorado Springs, CO; and many nieces and nephews. Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don Carlsen; her son, Dick and his wife, Elaine Carlsen; and sisters: Lorraine Teske, Verna Nelson, Ramona Edwin, and Elaine Doyle.
