Memorial services for Diane Lucille Martin will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Central Freeborn Lutheran Church. Rev. Matt Griggs will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Diane died Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at St. Maryâs Hospital in Rochester.
Diane Lucille Martin was born on March 5, 1935 to Charles and Alice(Schmidt) Coon in Faribault. Diane graduated from Faribault High School and went on to receive her B.S. in Nursing from St. Olaf College. She began working at Neave Hospital in Albert Lea where she met her future husband Jim who had recently been in a farming accident. On September 8, 1963 Diane was united in marriage to James W. Martin at Trinity Lutheran Church in Faribault. Together they had two children, at that time Diane was a wonderful homemaker. She later worked at St. Johnâs Lutheran Home for 13 years as a R.N. Diane volunteered for Neave Partners & Health. She was a member of Central Freeborn Lutheran Church. Diane loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband James âJimâ W Martin of Albert Lea; children Timothy Martin of Minneapolis and Joel (Susan) Martin of Clarks Grove; grandchildren Madison and Josh Martin of Clarks Grove; step-granchildren Joshua, Nicholas and Justin Beatty; brother Charles R Coon of Centennial, Colorado; and many nieces and nephews.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law Darlene Coon.
