Dennis Nechanicky was born on April 23, 1946 in Albert Lea, the son of Louis and Edna (Halvorson) Nechanicky. He graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1966. Dennis served in the U.S. Navy, on the USS Kitty Hawk, a carrier operating off the North coast of Vietnam, for four years, from 1967-1971. On October 23, 1971 Dennis was united in marriage to Bonnie Bonick in Albert Lea. Denny worked for Miami Margarine, which later became Ventura Foods, for 34 years, retiring in 2008. He was a member of the VFW Post 447, and served as Post Commander from 1986-1987. He also was a member of the American Legion Post 56. Denny enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cooking. He went on many hunting trips up north.
Survivors include his wife Bonnie, daughter June Katzenmeyer, grandchildren Dakota Katzenmeyer, and Merecedez Coleman; sister Loretta (Luke) Callahan, brothers David (Jody) Nechanicky and Paul (Marilyn) Nechanicky, sister-in-law Joyce Bonick, many nieces and nephews as well as his very close friend, Joe Talamantes.
Denny was preceded in death by his parents, his mother-in-law and father-in-law , his sister in law Darlene Hoyne, and brother-in-law Lyle Hoyne.
In Lieu of Flowers, memorials are preferred to the VFW Post 447 or the American Legion Post 56.
