Debra (Debby) Jo Lynn Shanks passed away peacefully surrounded by her most loved ones in Rochester, MN on August 22, 2023 after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. A Celebration of Life for Debby will be held on Saturday October 7th, 2023 from 12:00 (Noon) to 4:00pm at the Edgewater Park Large Pavilion in Albert Lea, MN. Light refreshments will be served.
Debby Jo was born to David and Alyce (Rauenhorst) Bradshaw on December 26th, 1965 in Zumbrota, MN. She graduated from Pine Island High School in 1984. Following high school, she attended St. Cloud Beauty College and received a cosmetology license. She worked as a cosmetologist, at Avery Weigh-Tronix, and at Agilis.
Debby married the love of her life Brian Shanks on June 21th, 1986 in Pine Island, MN. To this wonderful union, they were blessed with two sons Anthony (Tony) and Brady. They made their homes in St. Cloud, MN, Truman, MN, and most recently Albert Lea, MN. Her family was the biggest and brightest light of her life and they brought her so much joy. She was their biggest fan and is incredibly proud of them and their accomplishments. She truly was the best wife, mother, and grandma anyone could ever ask for!
Debby loved watching the Minnesota Vikings, Minnesota Twins, Minnesota Wild, and Minnesota Timberwolves with Brian. She loved to listen to music and attend as many concerts with her closest friends and family as possible. She always had to have her nails done. She loved to read, tend to her flowers, and her Rum Fridays with Brian.
She is survived by the love of her life, Brian, of Albert Lea, MN and her two sons Anthony (Maggie) of Brookings, SD and Brady (Jordyn) of Janesville, MN; her grandchildren Kayden, Karrigan, and Caeleb of Brookings, SD and Maddyn and Macy of Janesville, MN; her older siblings Denise (Neil) Weis of Pine Island, MN, Dawn (Jim) Rew of Pine Island, MN, and Dan (Sue) Bradshaw of Waseca, MN; her Mother-in-Law Betty Shanks of Farmington, MN; her brother-in-law Ed (Michelle) Shanks of Farmington, MN and sister-in-law Lynda (Sean) Cavanaugh of Farmington, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, David and Alyce, and father-in-law David Shanks.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in honor of Deb “Debby” Jo Shanks to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
