Dean Claire Thompson

Dean Claire Thompson, 84, passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2024. A funeral service will be held at 2PM on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at Bayview Freeborn Funeral Home with visitation to be held for an hour prior to the service. Burial will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery. Chaplain Don Malinsky will be officiating.

Dean was born on September 2, 1940 in Buffalo Center, Iowa to Myron and Mae (Sathoff) Thompson. When he was 8, he moved to Hayward, Minnesota where he lived for many years. He graduated from Albert Lea Senior High and went on to work as a farmer and at Streater’s, where he worked for 34 years. He retired twice, though he continued to share breakfast with a friend for 2 years after his first retirement. In the summer of 1964, he married Carolyn Attig at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. While they would later divorce, their union produced two wonderful children, Lisa and Michael.

Dean was a humble and unassuming man, an avid outdoorsman who loved nature. He went out to Myre-Big Island State Park every day and often enjoyed trout fishing. When he was younger, he was part of a bowling league and went pheasant hunting.

Dean is survived by his daughter Lisa White, son Michael Thompson, sister Ramona Thompson, and grandchildren Avery and Jaxon White and Sydney Thompson.
