Dawn Kay Sandsmark was born April 15, 1955 in Albert Lea, the daughter of Clifford and Lucile (Mengeling) Davidson. She grew up in Twin Lakes and attended school in Emmons. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. On November 6, 1976, Dawn married Gary Sandsmark at Bear Lake Concordia Lutheran Church. Dawn was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and earlier at Bear Lake Lutheran Church. Dawn worked as a nursing assistant/trained medications aide at St. John’s Lutheran Community. Dawn liked attending her children and grandchildren’s events, flower gardening, grilling, crossword puzzles, playing board games and cribbage, watching home improvement and cooking shows on television. She enjoyed cooking and baking, especially lefse. She loved spending time with family, chocolate sweets, and Dr. Pepper.
Dawn is survived by her husband, Gary; children, Chad Sandsmark, Curtis (Lindsey Reese) Sandsmark, and Renae Sandsmark; grandchildren, Ayden Sandsmark, Skyler Sandsmark, Madison Reese; siblings, Nola (Don) Bengry, Pat (Larry) Armstrong, Marsha (Dennis) Ellertson, Wayne (Annie) Davidson, Pennie (Len) Gillette, Celeste Howard, Craig (Pamela) Davidson, and Bruce Davidson; mother-in-law, Kitty Sandsmark; sister-in-law, Diane King; and many nieces and nephews.
Dawn was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Lucile Davidson; sisters, Tammy and Sheila Davidson; and father-in-law, Marlin Sandsmark.
