Curtis Arnold Larson was born August 20, 1920, to Erwin and Alice Lunning Larson in Hubbard, IA. In 1937, the family moved from the Jewel, IA, area to the Hayward family farm. He attended school in Jewel and also Albert Lea High School. Curtis served his country during World War II in the United States Marine Corps from 1942 - 1946 in the South Pacific Islands as Tech/Sgt. Mechanic. On November 1, 1946, he was united in marriage to Lucille Sorenson at Trinity Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The couple farmed in the Lerdal area for 7 years before moving southeast of Hayward in 1953 where they farmed for 44 years. Curtis was a member of Hayward Lutheran Church where he served on the Church Council, Hayward Township Board, Hayward Senior Citizens, Albert Lea Eagles, American Legion, VFW, and the ASC Committee. Survivors include his wife, Lucille; children: Lucinda and husband, Ken Dugwyler of Apache Junction, AZ, Curtis and wife, Natalie and their children, Amy and Michael of Hayward, Jon and wife, Sandy of Hayward and their children, April and husband, Josh Sorensen of Rochester and Holly and Randy of Hayward, and Dirk and wife, Kim and their daughter, Leandra of Hastings; brothers and sisters: Everett Larson, Erwin Larson, Jr., Lucille Stephenson, Daryl Larson, and Doris Benesh; and brother-in-law, Clayton Sorenson of Princeton, MN. Curtis was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ethel and husband, Ben Fliss; brothers, Jewel and wife Evelyn and Luverne and wife, Helen; and son-in-law, Robert Sill.
