Clint was born March 3rd, 1948 in Albert Lea, MN. He lived his whole life in Albert Lea. He graduated from ALHS in June, 1966. Two months after graduation Clint and Sandra were set up on a blind date. When they met they fell in love with each other and Sandra immediately knew what a kind and genuine person he was. They dated for two years and Clint picked their wedding date of March 9, 1968. They were two young kids in love with very little money when they married. They had a small ceremony with open-faced sandwiches and cake. Sandraâs wedding dress was borrowed from Clintâs sister Karen. After the wedding they headed out of town and spent their honeymoon in Missouri with Clintâs brother Ed and his wife Donna. Six weeks after they were married Clint was drafted by the U. S. Army. He went to Ft. Campbell, KY for basic training and Sandra joined him in Colorado Springs, CO before he went to Vietnam for a year. He was always so proud to be a Vietnam Veteran and would always have a sticker, sign, or hat to show that. When Clint reunited with Sandra after Vietnam they continued their lives together in Albert Lea, MN.
On August 5, 1980, they were blessed with a son Ryan Allen and that was the happiest day of their lives. He has grown up to be a wonderful man and they are so proud of his accomplishments. The last seven days he has been their rock and has been there for both of them.
Clint worked most of his life for Weyerhaeuser and Alamco Wood Products. He was an avid fisherman and took every opportunity to enjoy his love of the sport. He loved playing cards, going to the casino, watching football and baseball on TV, and time spent with his friends. He especially loved time at home with his family and his beloved dogs Kisser, Maggie, Sadie, Ben, and Gus. He spent every first week in June for 30 years on a fishing trip up North with fishing buddies who included his brother Ed, who also recently passed away November 17, 2014.
Clint is survived by his wife Sandra of 46 years, son Ryan, sisters Sandra Freeman, and Karen (Bob) Kocha both of Florida, brother Norman (Shirley) Hansen of Owatonna, sister-in-law Donna Hansen of Independence, MO, aunt Margaret McColley of Alden, mother-in-law Donna Dahl of Albert Lea, several cousins, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Clint is preceded in death by his parents Genny Larson and Elmer Nelson, his brothers Ed Hansen and Kevin Wood, uncles Lorin McColley and Orville (Marion) Nelson, aunts Cecilia Bjornstad, Ada Nelson, and Millie Nelson, and father-in-law Omar Dahl.
Clint passed away November 26, 2014 after a one-year battle with cancer. Sandra and Ryan are so thankful for the people that have been there for them and have helped them through the last difficult year, especially Sandraâs family who has been their source of comfort and support. They also thank life-long friends Truman and Marva Gullord, Terry and Nancy Peterson, Darv and Marcia Habben, and Dave and Bonnie Carlson. They thank special neighbors, friends, Sandraâs co-workers and owners of Crossroads Trailer, as well as people who have sent cards and have prayed for them.
Clint never gave up his hope of courage to the very end. We will miss and love him forever. We hope Clint and Ed are on the most beautiful lake in heaven. Our earthly life with Clint has ended and we look forward to our eternal life together forever.
