Clifford Darl Frantum was born on July 5, 1924 in Waseca County, Minnesota, the son of G. Raymond and Amanda (Powers) Frantum. Cliff grew up in the Alden area and graduated from Alden High School in 1942. On March 9, 1945 Cliff was married to Gloris Lillian Olson in Alden. He worked on his family farm, for the Jack Spratt store in Alden, the Albert Lea Co-op Creamery, and the City of Alden as the Superintendent of Public Works for many years. After his retirement he started Frantum Sanitation. Cliff was a member of the Alden United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, woodworking, dancing, square-dancing, carpentry, camping, bird watching, and mechanics. He could fix anything. For many years, Cliff and Gloris made soup for the Lenten services at the church. During his life he was involved with many organizations including the Alden Lions Club, Boy Scouts of America, served on the Freeborn County Solid Waste Board, the Minnesota Waste Water Operators Association, the Commercial Club, Alden Area Development Corporation, Alden City Council, and the Grapevine Twist.
Survivors include his wife Gloris; children Cheryl (David) Reynolds, Pamela (James) McKenna, and Janice (Larry) King; grandchildren Mark Reynolds, Nan (Jeffrey) Hanegraaf, Barry (Maggie) Frantum, Erik Jacobsen, Travis Jacobsen, and Adam King; great grandchildren Christian Frantum, Hannah Senne, Aiden Jacobsen, Madison Frantum, and Lucia Hernandez; sister Phyllis (Merle) Martinson; brother-in-law Clifford (Millie) Olson,; sister-in-law Wilma (Roger) Bindewald; many nieces and nephews; and his friend and hunting buddy, Randy Webber, and many more friends.
Cliff was preceded in death by his son Mark Frantum, his parents, his in-laws William and Bertina Olson, sister Luella (Leo) Hagmann, brother Kenneth (Marge) Frantum, sisters-in-law Blanche (Nels) Edwin, Berdelle (Irvin) Sutleif, and Bonnie (LaVerne) Bergeson, brothers-in-law Wilbur Olson, George (Beverly) Olson, and several nieces and nephews.
