Clarice Davis, daughter of Clarence and Matilda Wolff Heegard, was born on September 24, 1921, in Park Rapids, MN, at her grandparent's home. Her father died when she was three. Her mother married Werner Lau, Northwood, IA, when Clarice was seven years old. She grew up on a farm near Northwood and attended country school east of Gordonsville. Clarice was confirmed in the Christian faith at Zion Lutheran Church in Northwood. On January 26, 1941, she was united in marriage with Emery I. Davis at Zion Lutheran Church. Three children were born to this union. Clarice helped Emery with the farm. They enjoyed many friendships and trips associated with their Conklin business, Watkin's sales, and showing POAs. Clarice attended the Deer Creek Valley Lutheran Church. She enjoyed singing praises to God in the church choir and with a long-standing trio and sang duets for many church related occasions. She was a Sunday school teacher and held offices in the church women's groups. A neighborhood Bible study group held fond memories for Clarice, as well as her church circle, and being a counselor for the Billy Graham Crusade in Mason City, IA. She was currently a member of Faith Lutheran Church in London and is remembered as a woman of strong faith and selfless love. Clarice was a gifted seamstress and sewed many quilts for LWR. Clarice loved children and would spend hours playing and reading to her children and grandchildren, and now great-grandchildren. Music, singing, and dancing brought a special joy to Clarice. She played organ and accordion without formal lessons. Her greatest love was her family and she enjoyed holidays and special occasions surrounded by her loved ones, the most recent being her 85th birthday. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Emery; children: Sheldon Rita Davis of rural Glenville; Sharyl Paul Ferley of Northwood, and Steven Judy of Apple Valley; grandchildren: Shelly Woitas, Suzette Michael Kragenbrink, LT. Commander Mark Rebecca Ferley, Stacy Davis, Cassandra Mike Kvale, Heather Jamie Pryble, and Jerad Davis; great-grandchildren: Aaron and Andrew Woitas, Calvin, Mitchell, and Jack Kragenbrink, Alec and Nicole Ferley, MacKenzie Davis, and twins, Abigayle and Isabella Kvale; step sister, Gladys Kenyon of Austin. Clarice was preceded in death by her parents, step father, and granddaughter, Suzanne Davis.
