Clarence "Slicker" Kreager

Clarence Leroy Kreager was born on February 24, 1923 in Dodge Center, the son of William and Elizabeth Elias Kreager. He grew up in the Dodge Center area and attended school there. During school he was active as a football, basketball and hockey player. His nickname of "Slicker" came from ice skating during hockey season. He also delivered papers as a youth. On March 28, 1946 Clarence was united in marriage to June M. Johnson in Sioux Falls, SD. Clarence worked for Northern States Power as a Lineman, and later as a supervisor, retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Eagle's Club and a volunteer fire fighter. Clarence enjoyed reading western books, doing word puzzles, crocheting doilies, baptismal gowns, animals, tablecloths, mittens, and pictures. He also enjoyed playing cards with his grandkids. Survivors include his significant other, Helen Kreager of Albert Lea; children LeRoy "Buck" Connie Kreager of Bella Vista AR, Fred Kreager of Montgomery, MN, Sandra Klindworth of Dodge Center, and Richard Kreager of Waseca; grandchildren Lisa Blaise Tybor of Florida, Kelly Carlton Romo of Georgia, Stacy Woods of Mable, MN, Chad Kim Kreager of Faribault, MN, Kari Kreager of Eden Prairie, MN, Stacia Alan Round of Dodge Center, MN, Shelene Terry Rath of Kasson, MN Richard Klindworth of Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, Sharice Nelson Lecea of Rochester, MN, Pastor Reginald Kate Klindworth of Chaska, MN, and Shannon Tracy DuChene of Medford, MN; 30 great-grandchildren, sisters LaDean Strum of Moose Lake, MN, and Donna Virgil Moffit of Rochester, MN; and nieces and nephews. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, his wife June, great-granddaughter Angela, brother Kenneth, and sisters Esther, Wilhelmina, and Phyllis. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
