Clara H. Margadant

Clara H. Margadant was born on August 18, 1908 to John and Caroline Johnson Hanson in Hartland Township of Freeborn County. She grew up in the Hartland and Manchester area and attended school in Manchester. On May 29, 1938 Clara was united in marriage to James C. Margadant at First Lutheran Church in Hartland. Clara was a homemaker and raised her two children. She was employed at the Freeborn County Home Good Samaritan Center for 4 years and from 1961 – 1984 she was the supervisor of housekeeping and laundry at St. John's Lutheran Home. She was a member of the Central Freeborn Lutheran Church and a member of the Sons of Norway. Clara enjoyed flower gardening. Her family especially loved her homemade breads. Clara loved spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include her son, James F. Brenda Margadant of Rapid City, SD; grandchildren, James, Lee, Jana and Becky Margadant; and great-grandson, Lucas; her daughter, Carolyn Orval Gartner of Mapleton, MN; granddaughter, Brenda Mike Clutter; great-grandchildren, Regina and Michael; grandsons, Scott Gartner and Mark Kara Gartner; and great-granddaughter, Elayna; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Clara was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James in November 1969; great-grandson, Colin Clutter; brothers, Helmer, Arthur, Clarence, Peter, Conrad, Walter, Ludwig and William; and sister, Cora Hanson.
