Christopher Jaye Opseth was born September 5, 1979, to Kevin Opseth and Sharon Nesset in Albert Lea. He was baptized at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Albert Lea and confirmed at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden. Ope grew up in Alden and graduated from Alden-Conger High School in 1998. He was employed as a plumber for Jim & Dude's in Albert Lea. Ope was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and a volunteer firefighter and first responder for the Alden Fire Department. He was always willing to help others, putting them above himself. Ope loved hunting, snowmobiles, music, and his dog, "Molly." Especially important were his friends and his sense of humor. Survivors include his fiancee, Jenny Bloomingdale of Alden; parents, Kevin Sheri Opseth of Alden and Sharon Mark Christian of Albert Lea; brothers, Greg and Dan Opseth, both of Alden; sister, McKinzey Christian and brother, Andy Christian, both of Albert Lea; grandparents: Don and Joan Opseth of Hayfield, Jelaine Jay Nesset of Albert Lea, and Mervil and Betty Christian of Emmons; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Ope was preceded in death by his grandfather, Arthur Nesset, grandmother, Chris McColley, and grandfather, Richard Kearney. Ope will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
