Charles L. Rockwell was born on April 6, 1925 in Logan, Iowa the son of LeRoy and Bessie Grosvenor Rockwell and was raised in Logan. He served his country in the U.S. Army where he was an airplane and engine mechanic. On July 3, 1949 Charles was united in marriage to Dorothy Leighton in Omaha, NE. The couple lived in the Omaha area moving several times until settling in Albert Lea. Dorothy died on July 29, 1972. Charles worked as a USDA Inspector. On Sept. 2, 1978 Charles was united in marriage to Fern Nelsen in Albert Lea. Charles travelled to various job sites until his retirement in the early 1980's. Charles enjoyed woodworking, camping, metal detecting and having morning coffee with his many friends. Survivors include his wife Fern of Albert Lea; sons Richard Rockwell of Northfield, MN and Ronald and wife Karen of Castle Rock, CO; stepchildren Diane and husband John Hinners of Huron, SD, Kathie and husband Larry Hanson of Albert Lea, MN, Tom and wife Linda Nelsen of St. Peter, MN, and David and wife Lynde Nelsen of Rochester; step-grandchildren Derek and wife Cindy Hanson, Stacie and husband Jeff Ravenhorst, Anita and husband Nate Fischbach, Kevin Hinners, Travis and wife Heather Hinners, Chris and wife Amber Nelsen, Jenny Nelsen, Grant Nelsen, Emily Nelsen and Matt Vick; 12 step-great-grandchildren; sisters Marie Daughtery of Council Bluffs, IA, Doris Otto of Omaha, NE, Alice Peterson of Lincoln, NE Mary Dehart of Council Bluffs, and Edith Christensen of Arvada, CO; sister-in-law, Arlene Rockwell of Council Bluffs; and many nieces and nephews. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy, brothers Lee and Homer Rockwell, sisters Irene Dugan, and Virgina Marshall.
