Charles "Chuck" Harold Avery

Charles (Chuck) Avery, 83, of Austin, formerly of Clarks Grove, passed away April 22, 2025 at his home after being diagnosed with a glioblastoma brain tumor on April 9, 2025. Chuck was born on March 12, 1942. He was the son of Lloyd and LaVonne (Pederson) Avery.

Chuck worked for his father in the family business, Avery Feed & Fertilizer, in West Concord. He graduated from West Concord High School in 1960. After graduation he worked for Wenger Corporation before starting his 32 year career with UPS where he achieved 28 years of safe driving before retiring in March of 1998.

Chuck married his high school sweetheart Connie (Phelps), on March 22, 1963. They just celebrated 62 years of marriage. They were blessed with four amazing children, Lee, Kevin, JoDee, and ReNae.

Chuck loved serving his Lord and Savior. Chuck was involved in church leadership and led the Truck Stop Ministry at Trails, as well as leading a Bible study group at Crossroads Church. More recently Chuck served on the Board of Directors at the Village Cooperative in Austin where he served as president for the past 3 years.

Chuck loved taking road trips and traveling with Connie. He enjoyed doing handy man work and found great joy spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Chuck is survived by his wife Connie, their children Lee (Chris) Avery and children Alec (Jessica), Kasey (Renae); Kevin (Sherrie) Avery and children London (Grant), Garret (Elisabeth), Hannah (Adam), and Jacob; JoDee Avery and children Curi (Jen), Kaled and Mattie; ReNae (Bob) Meaney and children Taylor and Morgan; great grandchildren Kayden, Emma, Luna, Owen, Kyla, Carter, Leif, and Grayson; Siblings Paul (Julie) Avery, Jim (Linda) Avery, Karen (Larry) Lehmberg, Kathy (Ray) Courson, Joan (Steve) Sherry and sisters-in-law Vicky Avery and Karen Phelps and many nieces and nephews.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, his father and mother-in-law Fred and Dorothy Phelps, sister Jean Schoolfield, and brother Mark Avery.

The family would like to thank the Mayo Clinic and the Mayo Clinic Hospice team for their excellent care.

Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 10th at Crossroads Church in Albert Lea MN at 2PM with visitation to be held from 12PM to 2PM.
