Cecil Marlow William Robran

August 14, 1924 — March 6, 2008

Cecil Marlow William Robran was born on August 14, 1924 to George and Hattie Robran in Waseca. He attended grade school and high school in Waseca. He enlisted in 1944 in the United States Army, fighting in Okinawa and throughout the Pacific. At the end of the war he returned to Waseca. In 1948 he met his wife Dorothy Munson. They were married on May 6, 1951 at the Hartland Evangelical Lutheran Church. After living in Waseca for 2 years Cecil and Dorothy had the opportunity to farm south of Hartland. Cecil enjoyed raising dairy cows, corn, soybeans and other crops. In 1968 their barn burned, loosing 31 head of livestock. After this, Cecil sought employment at Wilson's Meatpacking Plant in Albert Lea. He sold the remaining livestock and crop farmed while working at Wilson's. Cecil enjoyed traveling with his wife and visiting many countries, having been in Europe twice. Cecil and Dorothy became "snowbirds," living in a retirement community in Sebring, Florida, but returning to their home in the village of Hartland for the summer and fall. They had this opportunity for 10 years. Cecil enjoyed watching TV game shows, and sports. He was an active member in his church, Hartland Evangelical Lutheran, until his later years, being confined to his home for the last 3 years of his life due to illness. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, of 56 years and 10 months; children, Rebecca Tom Goetz, of Bloomington, MN, William Marilyn Robran, Kent Julie Robran, Kevin Marlene Robran, all of Hartland, and Blake G. Robran of St. Peter; son-in-law, Kent Olmanson of Waseca; 12 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 5 step great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, JoAnn Dick Morgan of Northfield, and Maudeen Robran of Livingston, TX; many nieces and nephews. Cecil was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Jean Olmanson on February 10, 2007; his parents, George and Hattie Robran; parents-in-law, John and Clara Munson. He was the only remaining sibling of his family of 7 brothers and 5 sisters. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the greatest joys of his life. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him. Blessed be his memory.
