Carroll Aasen

February 27, 1923 — January 6, 2011

Funeral services for Carroll Johan Aasen, age 87, of Albert Lea will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 14, 2011 at Ascension Lutheran Church with Military Honors accorded by Freeborn County Area Veteran’s organizations.  Rev. Mark Boorsma will officiate.  Visitation will be from 5-8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 13th at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.  

 

Carroll died Thursday, January 6, 2011 at his home.

 

Carroll Johan Aasen was born on February 27, 1923 in Freeborn County to John and Caroline (Hallum) Aasen.  He was baptized and confirmed at West Freeborn Lutheran Church.  Carroll grew up on a farm near Manchester, attended country school district #21 and graduated from Freeborn High School in 1942.  Carroll served his country in the United States Navy.  On November 27, 1955 he was united in marriage to Margrette Munson in Hartland, MN.  Carroll worked at Farmstead Foods for several years and was self-employed as a barber until his retirement.  He was a charter member of Ascension Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 56 and Kiwanis Golden K II.  He enjoyed golf and liked to fix water softeners and other plumbing and misc. repair projects at the church, he also volunteered as a bell ringer for the Salvation Army.  Carroll treasured the time spent with his family, immediate, extended and his church family.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. 

 

Survivors include his wife, Margrette; children, Kay (David) Beam, Carroll (Laurie) Aasen, Jr., Kenneth (Rose) Aasen, and Allen Aasen; grandchildren, Katie Beam, Susannah (Brian) Humpal, Caroline Aasen, Jason (Mackenzie) Miller, and Matthew Miller; great-grandson, Vincent Humpal; brothers and sisters, Ruth Solheid, Lillian Young, Oscar Ausen, Paul Aasen; many nieces and nephews.

 

Carroll was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Eric Aasen, Inga Olson, Olive Nordeen, Agnes Hartz and Edgar Ausen.
