Carol Ann Westland

Funeral services for Carol Ann Westland, age 90, of Albert Lea will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 23, 2012 at First Lutheran Church.  Rev. Daniel Baker will officiate.  Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.  

Carol died Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Good Samaritan Center.

Carol Ann Westland was born on October 13, 1921, in Clarks Grove Township, the daughter of Harry and Alice (Jensen) Arneson.  Carol grew up in the Clarks Grove area and received her early education at rural district #5.  She was united in marriage to Earl Alvin Westland on December 28, 1941 at North Freeborn Lutheran Church.  Carol raised five children.  Later in life, she was employed at St. John’s Lutheran Home for 18 years and was a member of First Lutheran Church since 1946.  Carol enjoyed sewing, gardening and especially her flower beds.  She was an independent, thoughtful and loving Mother who loved her family very much.  Blessed be her memory.

Survivors include her children: Linda (David) Wallner, Steven (Diane) Westland, Stanley (Sherry) Westland, Thomas (Susan) Westland.  Grandchildren: Leah Walker, Chad Walker, Nathan Walker, Jennifer Westland, Wade (Shanna) Westland, Carolyn Rodgers, Michael Westland, Sarah (Reid) Olson, Garrett Westland and Tara Westland; great-grandchildren: Joee and Ryder Westland, Jacob and Aaron Rodgers, Alex, Michael and Maggie Olson; sister, Dorothy Westland; and sisters-in-law, Grace Arneson and Bettie Westland; many nieces and nephews.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Earl in 1962; son, Timothy Elton Westland in 2005; parents, Harry and Alice Arneson; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Edward and Anna (Runden) Westland; brother, Alton Arneson; sisters, Arlene Jensen and Marion Frydenlund; sisters-in-law, Emily Bengtson, Ada Westland, Doris Westland; brothers-in-law, Sherely Westland, Carrol Westland, Luverne Westland, Edward Westland, Hilmer Bengtson, Alvin Jensen and Robert Frydenlund.
