Carlyle Joseph Madson was born February 9, 1926, to Joseph and Marie Thofson Madson in Hartland Township. He graduated from Freeborn High School in 1945. On February 9, 1946, Carlyle was united in marriage to Lois Jensen. He began farming in 1947 north of Hartland, and in the 1970s worked at Wilson & Co. for 18 years. Carlyle enjoyed working in his shop repairing and making many different things for himself and his family. He was a member of West Freeborn Lutheran Church, where he was very active in helping with anything that needed to be done. He was also a member of the Elks and the Farmer's Union. Carlyle was also a very proud member of AA. Survivors include his wife, Lois; son, Tom and his wife, Char Madson of Elk River; daughters, Pauline Dill of Waseca and Lori and her husband, Randy Tuchtenhagen of Albert Lea; grandchildren: Eric and his wife, Lisa Madson, Randy and his wife Linda Madson, Patricia Dill, Angie, Paul, & Scott; great-grandchildren, Joe, Gabriel, Jack, Lila, and Charlotte, Talin, Lexi and Emma; brother, Milo and his wife, Ardis Madson of Hartland; sister, Jeanette and her husband, Ron Johansen of Rochester; sister-in-law Barb Sanderson of Albert Lea; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Carlyle was preceded in death by his parents; son, Craig Madson; brother and sister-in-law, Jay and Darlene Madson; brother-in-law, Thorvald Sanderson; nephew, Matt Johanson; and niece, Cheryl Madson.
