Carlyce Ellen Brostad, 82, Albert Lea, MN died June 03, 2015 at St John's Lutheran Home surrounded by family.
She was born July 29, 1932 to Elmer and Petra (Brunswick) Hawkinson in Webster, SD. She grew up in Holmquist, SD on a farm and attended school there.
On December 17, 1949, Carlyce was united in marriage to Perry Grant Brostad in Watertown, SD.
She was a daycare provider in Aitkin and worked for Land O' Lakes in Aitkin and Albert Lea, MN. She retired at the age of 62.
Carlyce enjoyed traveling and spending her winters in Arizona with Perry. She also enjoyed rummage sales, gambling, going out to eat and visiting with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include children: Cary (Linda) Brostad of Minneapolis, Sherry (Ron) Arvidson of Aitkin, MN, Kim (Phyllis) Brostad of Cedar Rapids, IA, Denise Schultz of West Des Moines, IA, Marilee (Anthony) Majerus of Albert Lea, MN and Peggy Buechler of Sawyer, ND; daughter-in-law Mina Brostad; 13 grandchildren: 12.5 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Carlyce was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Petra Hawkinson, siblings Clarice Hawkinson, Marlowe Hawkinson and Paul (Ronnie) Hawkinson, husband Perry Grant Brostad; son Dennis Perry Brostad; sons-in-law, Herb Schultz and Mike Buechler.
Private Burial services will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the American Heart Association.
