Funeral services for Candy Trappe will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home.  Rev. Erica Cunningham will officiate.  Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. 

Candy died Saturday, October 28, 2017 at her home. 

Candace Lee Trappe was born January 7, 1950 in Bremington, WA, the daughter of Frederick Orlan and Evelyn Ilene (Stevens) Thomas.  She grew up in Albert Lea and graduated from Albert Lea High School.  After graduation she worked at Gold’s Grill and Canton Café.  Candy was united in marriage to Roger Trappe in Watertown, SD.  The couple moved to Britt, IA before making their home in Albert Lea.  Candy was a member at Salem Lutheran Church and enjoyed working as an aid at various nursing homes and care centers.  She loved gardening, flowers, birds, especially hummingbirds, traveling with Roger and spending winters in Texas.

Survivors include her husband, Roger; mother and step-father Evelyn and Duane Degn; children, Jennifer (Jason) Gilderhus and Ken Trappe; grandchildren, Tye Trappe, Isabella Gilderhus, Alyssa Gilderhus, Markus Gilderhus, Sabra Mullenmaster and Tess Trappe; siblings, Ken (Gwen) Thomas, Rob Thomas, Julie Polton, Jerry (Carolyn) Degn and Scott Degn. 

Candy was preceded in death by her father, Frederick and son, Tommy Trappe.  

Candy’s family is thankful for the care, love and support that Alissa Tweed provided to Candy and all of the Trappe family.
