Brian Eugene Gilbertson

Funeral services for Brian Eugene Gilbertson, age 55, of Long Beach,California and formerly of Alden will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, March 13, 2015 at the Concordia Lutheran Church of Pickerel Lake. Rev. Wendy Anderson will officiate. Interment will be in Pickerel Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 12, 2015 at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Brian died suddenly from cardiac arrest on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Long Beach, California.
Brian Eugene Gilbertson was born in Albert Lea, on April 30, 1959, the son of Leigh and Barbara (Harman) Gilbertson. He grew up in the area and graduated from Alden Conger High School in 1977.  Following high school Brian attended college in Waseca and studied Agriculture. He worked in Wisconsin on a beef and dairy farm, and then in Cedar Rapids for a short time. Brian later went to school to be a flight attendant. He worked for Northwest Airlines/Delta for over thirty years. Brian was interested in family history and did genealogy, and also loved gardening both vegetables and flowers. He loved spending time with family and friends, especially during any holiday.
Survivors include his mother Barbara Gilbertson; siblings Gilbert Gilbertson, Bonnie (Dave) Graham, Mike (Maureen) Gilbertson, Susan (Richard) Hoium, Peggy (Jim) Neff, Mark Gilbertson, Patty (Raymond) Madrigal, Scott Gilbertson, and Sherry (Mark) Anderson; many nieces and nephews; and his loving family in California, special friend, Kai Thanakorn Singkham and best friends Shannon Johnsen and Michael MaKaron.
Brian was preceded in death by his father Leigh and great niece, Janna.
Brian will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
