Bernice Schuhmacher

February 16, 1924 — September 22, 2013

Funeral services for Bernice Schuhmacher age 89, formerly of Glenville, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.  Rev. Ronald Myers will officiate.  Interment will be at Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home.  
Bernice died Sunday, September 22, 2013 at Good Samaritan Center.  
Bernice Arlene Schuhmacher was born February 16, 1924 to Erdmann and Elsie (Wolff) Schultz in Red Lake Falls, MN.  She grew up in Red Lake Falls and graduated from Lafayette High School.  After high school she attended Normal Training and was a teacher for two years.  On April 18, 1945 Bernice was united in marriage to Delbert Schuhmacher in Red Lake Falls.  Together they made their home in rural Myrtle where they farmed.  Bernice worked at Land O Lakes for several years and enjoyed being a homemaker.  She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she was active in WELCA Women’s Circle and Work Group.  Bernice enjoyed camping, traveling, spending time with family and baking, especially homemade donuts.  Blessed be her memory.
Survivors include her husband Delbert Schuhmacher; children Lowell (Becky) Schuhmacher of Glenville and LaRae (Kelly) Oxley of Taopi; grandchildren Jody (Andrew) Nelson, Ryan (Hilary) Oxley, Brad (Amy) Schuhmacher, Shannan (Mike) Dreyer, Megan Oxley and Nathan Oxley; great grandchildren Hayden and Nathan Nelson, Jordon and Weston Oxley, and Hannah and Lauren Schuhmacher; siblings Arley (Irene) Schultz and Mavis Arvidson both of Red Lake Falls; sister-in-law Beatrice Meyer; brother-in-law Kenny Weiland and many nieces and nephews.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; sister Ellen Weiss Weiland; brothers-in-law Richard Weiss and Roger Arvidson and sisters-in-law Verna Schultz and Pat Schultz.
