Bernard O. Hoium

Bernard Orville Hoium was born on Dec. 19, 1920 in Bancroft township the son of Severt and Goodelia Lovig Hoium. He was baptized and confirmed at East Freeborn Lutheran Church where he has been a lifelong member. He attended rural school in Freeborn County. On June 9, 1946 Bernard was united in marriage to Marjorie Mickelson at East Freeborn. Bernard farmed with his father and took over the work of the family farm. Bernard loved farming and all that goes with tending the land. He was an active member of the church and enjoyed time spent with his family and many friends. Survivors include his wife, Marjorie; children: Del Hoium, Rollin and wife Nancy Hoium, Ross and wife Kris Hoium and Bill and wife Anita Hoium. Grandchildren: Brian, Philip, Todd, Scott, Erin, Katelyn, Brett and Ryan Hoium. 3 step-grandchildren; Chris, Tim and Michael Flores and 3 step-great-grandchildren; Tommy, Maria and Sophia. Brothers-in-law; Bob and wife Louise Mickelson and Gerald and wife Darlene Mickelson. Cousin Richard Hoium and several nieces and nephews. Bernard was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Genevieve LuVerne Nesse and Carmen Richard Barnick.
