Bernard Herman

Bernard Herman was born February 2, 1912, to Edward A. and Florentine S. Niitz Hermann in Fulda, MN. He moved to Hollandale as a child and graduated from District #142 on July 6, 1928. On January 1, 1937, Ben was united in marriage to Frances E. Remkus at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. He was employed as a Welder at Queen Products. The couple lived in Albert Lea until they built their own home north of Albert Lea in 1950, where Ben lived until moving to St. John's in 1999. He attended Our Savior's Lutheran Church and then North Freeborn Lutheran Church and Central Freeborn Lutheran Church. Ben enjoyed playing pool and bowling. Survivors include his children: Jackie and husband, Roger Jacobson of Oakland, Sharon and her husband, Jerry Reardon of Lemars, IA, and John and his wife, Eleanore Herman of Pittsford, NY; grandchildren: Lori and husband, Forrie Minear of Maple Island, Clayton Jacobson of Minneapolis, Brian and his wife, Tina Jacobson of Albert Lea, Jeff and his wife, Chelle Jacobson of Oakland, Randy and his wife, Cate Reardon of LeMars, JoAnn and her husband, Kyle Black, also of LeMars, Ruth and her husband, James Diem of Minneapolis, Clara and her husband, David Legeay of Dayton, OH, and Eleanore and her husband Steve Janczak of Minneapolis; 19 great-grandchildren; brother, Rudolf "Duffy" and his wife, Ruth Hermann of Boise, ID; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ben was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Frances in 1999; sisters, Agusta Leucht and Olga Hardy; and brothers: Erich "Spike," Arthur "Slim," Reinhard "Ray," Edward, Urban, & Vernon in infancy Hermann.
