Audrey Meredith Marpe Cox was born on September 19, 1927 in Albert Lea, the daughter of Edwin and Helen (Stevens) Marpe. She was baptized and confirmed at the Alden Lutheran Church, attended the Buckeye Country School, and graduated from Alden High School. Following graduation Audrey attended teacherâs training at the Wells Normal School. Audrey taught school for a few years before her marriage to Leonard V. Cox on December 22, 1947. She was a member of the 4H in Alden and Pickerel Lake, and helped with the Hayward 4H. She was an active member of the Hayward Lutheran Church, a member of the Ladiesâ Aid there and helped with Sunday School. In later years Audrey also worked as the custodian for the church.
Survivors include her daughter Virginia (Jeff) VandeKamp of Hollandale, grandson Joshua VandeKamp and his daughter Peyton, and granddaughter Heather VandeKamp, daughter-in-law Karen Cox and her children Anthony, Dustin, Shannon, Amber and children Jackson and Brooklyn, and Angela, several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leonard, and her son Donald.
