Ardis Marie Petersen was born on October 10, 1916 in Alden the daughter of Chris and Agnes (Johnson) Jorgensen. She attended and graduated from Alden High School in 1934. She worked on the family farm and on June 23, 1935 Ardis was united in marriage to Arnold J. Petersen at the Danish Lutheran Church in Alden. She was a devoted Christian who worked side by side with Arnold in raising their family and farming. Ardis was a member of the Extension Homemakers Club and active in Redeemer Lutheran Ladies Aid. She had been the church organist at the Danish Church and used her voice as Godâs talent to her at many weddings and funerals. Ardis was a great cook and baker always entertaining her family, friends and strangers. She volunteered at Good Samaritan Center and St. Johnâs Lutheran Home for a short time. Ardis enjoyed working in her garden, her flower beds, baking and doing handwork/embroidery making many sets of dish towels. She was very dedicated to having family gatherings and enjoying the company of all those around her.
Ardis is survived by her children; Curtis (Mary) Petersen and Judy ( Curtis) Nelson. Grandchildren, Deb (Kenny) Meyer, Sue ( Phil ) Ferbuyt, Kathy Quinn, Chris Petersen, Mark Petersen, Mike ( Linnea)Petersen. Valerie (Erik) Schminke, great-grandchildren, Dustin (Kirsten) Meyer, Derek(MacKenzie) Meyer,Kendra Meyer, Chelsey and Samantha Ferbuyt, Brittany, Jessica, Mick and Danielle Quinn, Heather Petersen, Larissa Petersen, Riley and Ali Jean Petersen; great-great-grandchildren, Samantha Petersen, Evelyn and Lucas Meyer. Sister, Perky Bergstrom, sister-in-law Grace Jorgensen and nieces and nephews.
Ardis was preceded in death by her parents, Chris and Agnes Jorgensen, husband, Arnold Petersen, grandson, Steve Nelson. Brother, Evald Jorgensen, sisters Alvina Smith and Pearl Garvin. Sisters-in-law; Alma Getzow, Myrtle Nichols, and Bertha Moore.
