Anker Peter Mathiason

November 29, 1912 — August 2, 2007

Anker Peter Mathiason was born November 29, 1912, to Carl and Maren Ravn Mathiason in Alden. He lived in the Alden area his entire life and attended country school. Punk served in the United States Army during World War II from 1941 - 1945. On November 26, 1949, he was united in marriage to Ardis Eleanor Petersen at the Grace Lutheran Church in Alden. Punk was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church, the Carlston Cemetery Board, and the American Legion, as well as a founding member of the Alden Co-op Elevator. He enjoyed farming with his sons, the outdoors, county fairs - especially watching his granddaughters show cattle - and spending time with his family and loved ones. Punk was loved by many and will be dearly missed. Survivors include his wife, Ardis; sons, Glen Jill Mathiason and Bob Cindy Mathiason; granddaughters: Shannan Chris Nelson and Kendra and Krista Mathiason; and great-grandchildren, Bryn and Noah Nelson, all of Alden; sisters, Betty Brandt of Tyler, Hilda Elvis Duncan of Alden, and Dagmar Jacobson of Rice Lake, WI; sisters-in-law, Stella Mathiason of Alden and Evelyn Koetke of Isle; and numerous nieces and nephews. Anker was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Arnold Mathiason; sisters, Valborg Smith and Astrid "Ossy" Mathiason; and brothers-in-law, Andrew Smith, John Brandt, Allan Jacobson, and Kenneth Koetke.
