Amelia Florence Bakke was born on January 14, 1914 to Joseph and Clara Anderson Simonson in Genoa, Colorado. Amelia moved with her family to the Hartland area where she was confirmed and attended Dist. #10 school in Hartland. On October 29, 1932, she was united in marriage to John Bakke in Hartland, MN. Amelia worked at Land O Lakes in Albert Lea. Amelia was a member of First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea where she was active in Circle #31 and the First Lutheran Church Women. She was a charter member of the Sons of Norway. Amelia enjoyed gardening, canning, camping and fishing with her husband and grandchildren. She enjoyed taking care of and feeding her family. Amelia especially loved lutefisk and making lefse. She enjoyed playing cards, games, reading poetry and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her children, Jerome Bakke of Maple Island, MN, Lois Michael Reardon of St. Paul, MN, Florence Roger Syvertsen of Grand Forks, ND, and Orrin Fran Bakke of Hasting, MN; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; several sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. Amelia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; daughter-in-law, Audrey; 1 granddaughter; 6 brothers and 3 sisters.
