Amanda A. Kennedy was born on January 11, 1917 in Alden, the daughter of Forest and Agnes (Barr) Woollard. She attended Alden grade school and graduated from Alden High School in 1936. On May 6, 1939 she was united in marriage to Lawrence âPatâ Kennedy in the Methodist Parsonage in Northwood, IA. They moved to Albert Lea in 1939 and farmed. Amanda was a member of the Methodist Church in Alden and joined the First Baptist Church when they moved to Albert Lea. In the Methodist Church she was a Sunday School teacher, a pianist for the Sunday School, and Secretary of the Sunday School. At First Baptist she also taught Sunday School, was head of the Baptist Youth Fellowship, and served as a Deaconess. She was also active in the Golden Oaks 4H Club.
Survivors include her sons David (Doreen) Kennedy and Doug (Ardie) Kennedy; grandchildren David Paul (Tonya)Kennedy, Daniel (Erica) Kennedy, Dawn Kennedy, Eric (Becki) Kennedy, Erin (Adam) Kennedy Shaw, and Ethan (Katie) Kennedy; great-grandchildren Courtney and Carter Kennedy, Madeleine, Clarke and Henry Kennedy, Weston, Camryn, and Addisyn Shaw, Hailey and Nolan Brunsen, and Izabella Kennedy; also step-great-grandchildren Alexis and Cody Sullivan; and many nieces and nephews.
Amanda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Pat, brothers Roy, Rob, Clarence, and Fred Wollard; and sisters Fern Meyer, Jennie McGill, Esther Tatge, and Margaret Wollard.
