Alpha Jane Odelia Harum Wangsness was born on October 16, 1922 to Anton and Sena Johnson Harum in Albert Lea, MN. She grew up in the Hartland and Clarks Grove area. Alpha attended rural Hartland schools and Bethany Lutheran High at Mankato, MN. On April 7, 1946 she was united in marriage to Walter R. Wangsness in Hartland. The couple farmed outside of Clarks Grove until retirement in 1982. Alpha was a member of the Hartland Evangelical Lutheran Church where she played organ for 60 years and was an active member of the Ladies Aid Society and the Rebekah-Ruth Circle. She also worked as the secretary for the Salvation Army for 17 years. Alpha was also a member of the American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries. She treasured the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Survivors include son, Wayne and wife Roni Wangsness; grandson, Eryk and wife Sara Wangsness; granddaughter, Heather Wangsness; great-grandchildren, Jade, Grant and Lindsey; many nieces and nephews. Alpha was preceded in death by her parents, Anton and Sena Harum; and husband, Walter Wangsness.
