Almon N. Sather

July 2, 1919 — August 9, 2008

Almon N. Sather was born on July 2, 1919 in Elbow Lake, MN., the son of Juel and Gena Rovang Sather. He was baptized in the Norwegian Lutheran Church. In 1924 the family moved to the farm in Freeman township. He attended Dist. #47 Wadsworth School and graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1937. Almon was united in marriage to Dorothy Wilhelm on Oct. 11, 1942 at the Glenville parsonage. The couple farmed together on their present farmstead. Almon served as President and Treasurer of Round Prairie Lutheran Church as well as Sunday School teacher and singing in the choir and Men's Quartet for many years. After the death of Dorothy, Almon took classes in peer-counseling from Bernice Sipple and Harold Carroll and began sharing his talents. He also had a great interest in hand corn husking contests and singing in Norwegian. Almon is survived by his children: Irving Nancy Sather, Albert Lea and their children, Gabriel Marsha Sather and their children, Ruth, Caleb and Hannah, Elliot Pagel Juli and children Jaden and Elise and Chandra Ben Sather Gessner and Cameron Sather, Wayne Sather, Glenville, Laurie Debra Sather, Albert Lea and children Rozamond Sather, Myia Ricky Young and daughter Peyton and Tristan Jennifer Christenson Sather, Neil Renae of Glenville and their children, Aberdeen , Evin and Karl Sather. Sisters, Gert Ness, Albert Lea, Adeline and husband Duane Muri, Rochester and brother, Milo Sather, LA, California. Almon was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister Venita Irene and loving wife Dorothy.
