She grew up near Emmons and attended District #84 through 8th grade, graduated from Alden-Conger High School and later attended Mankato Commercial College. On April 5, 1942 Alma was united in marriage to Leo âBudâ Russell Halvorsen Jr. at Lime Creek Lutheran Church. Alma was a member at Mansfield Lutheran Church. She had served on Lime Creek Church Council and was a Sunday school superintendent. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, camping, gardening, being a 4-H leader, writing in her journal, Sudoku and sending and receiving cards. Alma loved her life on the farm where she had a large garden, she helped with the field work, canned and froze garden produce and made many, many beautiful quilts throughout the years.
