Alice C. Simonson

Funeral services for Alice Simonson, age 92, of New Richland, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Community Lutheran Church in Geneva.  Rev. Dr. Kristen Venne will officiate. Interment will be at Geneva Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Monday, April 16 at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

Alice died Friday, April 13, 2018 at the New Richland Care Center.

Alice Charlotte Simonson was born September 20, 1925 in Hartland, Minnesota, the daughter of Leonard and Laura (Johnson) Olson.  She grew up in Hartland, attended country school and went on to graduate from Freeborn High School.  She was confirmed at Hartland Lutheran Church.  In 1944, Alice married Lee Johnson. They were blessed with two children, LaRuen and Connie. The couple later divorced.  Alice then married Leo Simonson. For over 20 years, Alice and Leo would winter in the south.  Alice was a member of Community Lutheran Church in Geneva. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, gardening, dancing, and spending time with family.

Alice is survived by her daughter, Connie Johnson; grandson, Shawn (Jessica) Johnson; granddaughter, Sara (Mike) Lindstrom; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Lee Johnson; husband, Leo Simonson; son, LaRuen Johnson; and brother, Oliver Olson.
