Alice was born on Jan. 30, 1923 in Lone Rock, Iowa, the daughter of James and Lillie (Brayton) Jenkins and grew up in Lake Crystal, Minnesota. She married August Johnson on October 27, 1943. In 1955 they moved to Albert Lea where they were members of Calvary Baptist Church. Alice became well-known in the community for her handmade dolls, especially her Raggedy Anns and Andys. She started making them in 1960, and was still sewing until her recent illness.

Alice is survived by her daughters Judith Johnson, Jeanne (David) Sumnicht, and Diane (Mike) Vietor; five grandchildren Cory (Jing) Yun and their children Dylan and Emma, Chad Vietor, Sara (Jamey) Anderson and their children Alexis, J.D. and Jacey, Katie (Brian) Bispala and their children Sydney August, Aidan and Libby Alice, Matthew (Katie) Sumnicht and their son Evan; and her sister Nadine (Luverne) Meier .
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 65 years, August Johnson and two sisters.
