Funeral services for Alice Flim, age 96 will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 18, 2015, at the Hollandale Reformed Church. The Rev. Neal Ooms will officiate. Interment will be in the Hollandale Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Alice died on Monday, December 14, 2015 at the Albert Lea Good Samaritan Society.
Alice Nellie Flim was born on November 24, 1919 in Melvin, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Sadie (Dykstra) Bremer. She grew up in Northwestern Iowa and North Dakota, attending school in Rock Rapids, IA, and graduating from Stutsman County Public School in North Dakota. On July 12, 1940 Alice was united in marriage to John A. Flim in Hollandale. She was a homemaker and worked as a kitchen aid at Good Samaritan. Alice was a member of the Hollandale Reformed Church where she was active in the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed gardening and reading her Bible and the Newspaper. Alice will be remembered for being a very loving mother and a Christian woman. Blessed be her memory.
Survivors include her children Sadie Case, Bertha Hokkanen, James (Maxine) Flim, Harlan Flim, and Steve (Tracy) Flim, 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; 41 great-great-grandchildren; sister Sadie Dejong; and brother Sidney Bremer as well as many nieces and nephews.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband John in 1978, her parents, sons-in-law Bert Case and Jon Hokkanen, brothers Peter Bremer, Jeppe Bremer, John Bremer, and Henry Bremer Jr. and sisters Mary Van Bruggen, Tillie Oldenkamp, and Florence Thompson.
