Albert Veldman was born May 8, 1924, to Hemmo and Titia Boscher Veldman in Hollandale and was a lifelong resident. On November 10, 1944, he was united in marriage to Bertha Bothof at the Hollandale Reformed Church. Albert served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He was a member of the Hollandale Reformed Church and the American Legion. Albert enjoyed playing cards, gardening, salmon fishing, and most especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include his daughter, Bev Veldman Jensen of Bloomington; sons, Jim and wife Gerri Veldman of Albert Lea and David Veldman of Hollandale; grandchildren: Jeff and wife Claire, Kristi and husband Phil, Chad and fiancee Katie, Kelly and husband Don, Danielle and husband Shawn, Sarah and significant other Wyatt, and Eric; great-grandchildren: Jacob, Ashley, Gabrielle, Alyx, Alese, Cole, Avri, Viola, and Otto; brothers, William and wife Sue Veldman of Hollandale and Pete and wife Arlene Veldman of South St. Paul; and sisters-in-law: Bee Veldman of Hollandale, Marilyn Veldman of Buffalo Lake, Lorna Bothof of Bloomington, and Betty Bothof of Cloquet. Albert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Bertha; brothers Wilbur and Bert; sisters Anna Wagner and Luella Hoogland; and brothers-in-law: Gerrit Bothof, Johnny Bothof, Cornelius Bothof, Harley Wagner, and Dirk Hoogland.
