Albert "Al" Stegenga was born on October 6, 1921, the son of Jelle "Joe" and Dora (Ennema) Stegenga in Carmel, Iowa.  He grew up in Hollandale, MN, and he attended the School of Agriculture at the University of Minnesota.  He was united in marriage to LaBonna "Bonny" Brand on May 11, 1944, in Hollandale, where they made their home together.  He was a member of the Hollandale Reformed Church where he served as both a deacon and an elder.

Al enjoyed his years farming with his family in Hollandale.  He loved sports and played softball, wrestling, golf, boxing, and bowling (including his newly found talent at Wii bowling).  Al was an avid fan of the Twins, the Gophers, and the Vikings.  He enjoyed spending his retirement traveling across the country in his recreational vehicle with his wife, chatting over a cup of coffee with the guys, telling jokes, teasing his grandchildren, and spending time with his family.

Al is survived by his daughter, Ronda L. Kanne, Woodbury; son, Troy A. Stegenga, Hollandale; grandchildren, Ryan (Paula) Kanne, St. Paul, and Nicole Kanne, Woodbury;  sister, Tena DeBoer, Hollandale; brothers, Ralph (Marilyn) Stegenga, Albert Lea, Herman (Janet) Stenga, Alaska; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Stegenga, Hollandale, Karen Stegenga, Albert Lea; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Al was preceded in death by his wife, Bonny; his brothers, Elmer and John, and his parents.

Memorials may go to Hollandale Reformed Church or Hollandale First Responders.
